From a Nile crossing to pipeline buoyancy: a look back at our PLE users' day
On October 22, 2026, PLE users and interested parties came together for a successful PLE users' day.
In the morning, Jens Foerster introduced the next version of PLE, showing several new UI/UX improvements and extended axial buckling calculations.
He and Rien Radder then presented interesting projects and unusual applications of PLE.
After lunch it was the guest speakers' turn. They showed how PLE helps them solving the questions they face in their own environment:
- A 1.8 km HDD including expansion loops under the River Nile - Sebastiaan Maan (BT Engineering)
- Friction along pipelines - Henk Kruse (Deltares)
- Modelling flotation and large upward displacements in PLE - Wouter Huinen (Bilfinger Netherlands)
We closed with a discussion and drinks, it was a good time for coming together, talking with each other and networking activities.
Many thanks to all the speakers and to everyone who attended. We look forward to welcoming you again at the next edition!
